Steps To Configure Outlook Or Outlook Express

Outlook and Outlook Express are the two most widely preferred email applications developed by Microsoft. Configuring these email services in your system is easy and all you require is to follow the simple instructions provided by the Outlook tech support. If you are planning to configure any of these email programs on your computer, you can use the following instructions:
  • In the first step, you need to launch the Outlook or Outlook Express application in your system. Now, click on the Tools menu followed by Accounts.
  • Once you open this option, you need to click on Add, Mail and then enter the required information. In the Display name field enter your name and click Next. Now, type in your full email address in the Email address: field, and click Next.
  • In the Incoming mail (POP3, IMAP or HTTP) server: field, enter mail.bsnl.in. Similarly, enter smtp.bsnl.in for the Outgoing mail (SMTP) server: field.
  • Now, you can click on Next and type in your full email address in Account name: field. After entering your email password in the Password: field, click Next.
  • Next, click Finish and select mail.bsnl.in under Account option followed by Properties. Now, you can go back to the Servers tab, and check the box next to the My server requires authentication option.
  • Once you have changed the Outlook setting, click OK.
To configure Outlook 2007for your Windows computer
  • After launching Microsoft Outlook, click on the Account Settings option from the Tools menu. Now, click on the E-mail tab and then on New.
  • In the next step, choose the Manually configure server settings or additional server types option and click Next. Now, click on Internet E-mail and then Next.
  • Now, you need to type in the following information for your e-mail Account.
  • Your Name: Enter your name as you want it to appear on the message.
  • Email Address: Type in your email address.
  • Account Type: POP3
  • Incoming mail server(POP3): mail.bsnl.in
  • Outgoing mail server (SMTP): smtp.bsnl.in
  • User Name: Here, enter your complete email address.
  • Password: Enter your password.
  • Now, you can click on More Settings and then on the Outgoing Server tab. You would find a box labeled My outgoing server (SMTP) requires authentication. To change the Outlook setting, check this box and select the Use same settings as my incoming mail server option.
  • Next, click on the Advanced tab and set the port number to the server.
  • For Incoming Server (POP3), you should set the port number as 110
  • For Outgoing Server (SMTP), the port number should be set to 25
  • Once you have set it, click OK followed by Next and then on Finish.
